Hello, parents! My name is Taylor “Fish Face” Jervis and I’m the camp director at The Shores. I’m originally from Nashville, and in my sophomore year at the University of Tennessee I googled “Christian summer camps” and ended up at Pine Cove in the summer of 2008. That’s where God changed my life while I was working at The Ranch. That summer I decided I wanted to be in camping ministry, and nine years later here I am!

We know how big of a deal it is to drop your high schooler off with us. Thank you for giving us this opportunity! We have been praying for them and for you for months.

Our Bible study this year is titled “BEACON: A Study of 1 John.” This is a letter that was written to early believers encouraging them to believe and know that salvation and life are found in Jesus! The message of 1 John is all about light, truth, and love.

1 John 1:5-7 says, “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all…and that if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”

We’re gonna learn a lot about walking in the light and being a light for others. A beacon is a light set up on a high or prominent place as a warning signal for danger and as a navigational guide.

Each day at 9:30am, your camper will be reading and studying one chapter of 1 John with their cabin. Would you commit to setting an alarm at that time each day to pray for your camper, the counselor, and their time in God’s Word?

We’re so pumped for your camper to be at the Shores this week and I’m praying that they grow and learn and have a ton of fun. Most importantly, I am praying that they get out of their daily routine and their daily context, away from distractions and temptation while getting to watch and learn from these godly college students as they live out their faith.
