This morning at the Timbers, we were given the opportunity to interview one of our counselors, Fulgham “I Can’t Bowlieve It’s Not Butter” Bell, and hear about her time here at camp!

What brought you to Pine Cove?

Bow Butter: I grew up going to all of the Pine Cove camps, and while I was a camper, I always wanted to work here because of the people and counselors I was touched by. Timbers was always my favorite camp, and I decided to apply.

What is your favorite part about working at Pine Cove?

Bow Butter: One of the things is the people because, through them, I know the Lord better. The Lord is so evident here at Pine Cove overall. Having so many people seek Him day in and day out leads me to seek Him more. The Lord being so present here and through the people makes Pine Cove stand out. The staff pushing you and mentoring you makes Pine Cove what it is. Being poured into constantly, we can pour into campers and make Pine Cove a place where we are seeking God and pouring out His love daily.

What has God been teaching you here?

Bow Butter: One thing that God has been showing me recently is Jesus being our living water. It’s something that I’ve known and the next step that I am trying to take is, “what does it mean to drink of Jesus’ living water?” Talking to the senior counselors here, I’ve realized that it means believing in it. It doesn’t mean our actions but seeking and believing in Him and only Him. The overflow of us drinking and seeking Jesus as our living water is our actions and how we love our campers. How we serve others here is by the foundation of what we believe and by seeking the Lord. The Lord gives us a command to come and drink and to come and believe. Its not these actions of earning anything but its just believing.

Is there a verse or book of the bible that you have been studying that best applies to your time here?

Bow Butter: I have been spending a lot of time in James. James is a book of a lot of commands, and it seems very much like a check list. But instead, it is the actions that we should and will have as a result of believing and seeking God. If you truly believe in God, the actions described in James will overflow from that belief.

“But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14

We can’t wait to see the incredible ways that God will continue to use Bow Butter this summer.
