Happy Thursday!
First off, thank you so much parents for entrusting your precious little ones to us this week. We count it a privilege to serve and love them while they come to camp. You might have heard, but here at Pine Cove we are intentional in what we do and careful to have a reason behind our activities, cheers, and all the fun we have here. That one driving factor in all that we do is the good news of the gospel. If you aren’t familiar with the gospel, take a minute to keep reading.

The Bible tells us that we are all sinners, and because we are all sinners we deserve eternal death. But there is good news! See, God loves us so much that he sent Jesus, His only son to die a horrible death on a cross, be buried, and then rise again to life three days later. One of my favorite verses about that truth is 2 Corinthians 5:21 which says: “For our sake he made him to be sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” WOW. What hope! Did you read the first part of that verse? It says “For OUR sake…” For you, for me, for us all, God sent Jesus to live as a man and suffer temptation and humanity and to BE our sin. But Jesus never sinned, he was completely perfect. How crazy that the one man on earth who knew no sin, bore ALL our sins? All this, so that through him, we get to become the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God. That’s right, the ones who are dirty, sinful, and deserving of death, get to not only become righteousness of God but we get eternal life with God in heaven. What a sweet reminder of how big God’s love is for us! I can’t understand it and I know we can’t live without it!

That’s just a snippet of what your camper gets to hear tonight as we present the gospel in club. The gospel is the why and how behind our actions. We, wretched sinners, become saved and redeemed and totally transformed by God’s love and we can’t keep that to ourselves!

It’s our prayer that through each activity and time with their counselor that your camper would come to know Christ in a deeper way or for the first time. “According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you” 1 Peter 1:3-4.

Pray with us that Jesus would soften our campers’ hearts to hear the truth and turn from their sin. Pray that they would turn towards God and his righteousness tonight.

In Him,
Ashley “Eat It” Irvin, Guest Services Coordinator
