Usually on Thursdays, the staff here all realize that the week of worship, being silly, and fun activities is coming to a close. This week, week 11, is completely different than the previous weeks before: this is the last week of Pine Cove for the 2015 summer. Although many things are coming to a close, Jesus never stops pursuing. As this incredibly beautiful summer comes to an end, we remind our campers of one thing: your relationship with Jesus isn’t just a camp high. Even as staff members, we must remember this. God is not only present and working at camp; yes, He uses Pine Cove to transform lives for His purposes and His glory, but He also uses you at home, school, and work. We pray that our campers leave here and continue to push forward in their relationships with Christ because that is ultimately the most important thing. Ever. Campers don’t have to only be on fire for the Lord when they are at camp; the fire that God gives you will forever stay lit. With going home comes stress, schedules, and heartbreak. But, all of this breaks us down in order to put our full trust in the Lord. We encourage our kids here at Timbers to not just walk with Jesus, but to fiercely and relentlessly RUN with Jesus.
“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Press on. Keep fighting off temptation and what the world tells you and turn to Jesus! He is the only one who will completely fulfill your needs. The Lord always provides what you need at the exact moment you need it.
“Run as to get the prize.” -1 Corinthians 9:24.
The prize we get from this life is an eternity worshiping and loving our God. That is the reason Jesus was sent to die on the cross for us. So do not let little things, such as leaving camp, stop you from pursuing your Creator. We find it easy to trust God while we are at camp because it is such a huge Christian atmosphere, but pray these lyrics when you get home and fight the good fight:
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
