Hey there, Ranch Fam!

We hope everyone is having a great week! We are already having an incredible time here! We haven’t let any raindrops ruin any of our time – and with it, have come to the realization of something…water is literally all around us here at camp. There are entire activities dedicated to just playing in the water (AKA Pool Games), where we jump, blob, trapeze, and play in the water for hours at a time.

We have a lake where campers can canoe, wakeboard, or use the Thundergulch – a giant tower consisting of a jump tower, slide, and zipline…all into the water!

However, even with the plethora of water activities and constant presence of water at camp, it is easy during these hot summer months to get tuckered out and forget to hydrate – especially in Texas! One of the most important things that we stress here at camp is hydration. It is important to refuel your body with what your body is made of, and one way we help everyone do that is by serving water at meals. During lunch, water is the only beverage that is served.

While your campers are busy having fun and hydrating themselves, there is also another kind of water being poured into them. It’s the living water that Jesus speaks of in the Gospel of John:

“…but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
– John 14:4 (ESV)

How cool is it to think of drinking something that would cause you to never be thirsty again? Even better, how incredible to think of quenching the ‘thirst’ that arises in everyday life – in our desires, worries, and wants? This is exactly what Jesus offers to us: the option of choosing Him over the world, and in turn being forever satisfied and never again ‘thirsty’ for what this world has to offer. Staying hydrated for the summer’s activities is one thing, finding an inner peace that will never run out amidst the craziness and stress of life is another.
