G’day from Pine Cove Outback! Week 7 of camp has been nothing short of incredible so far! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and campers are hearing the Gospel through fun activities, country theme nights, and Bible studies.
Today, we participated in our daily counselor-lead Bible study in each individual cabin. Throughout the week we will be focusing on the theme Purpose: why were we created and for what? We are all seeking to find our purpose, but we tend to look in all the wrong places. This week we will be digging into scripture to find the Biblical truths of why God created each and every one of us.
Wednesday’s memory verse is:
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. -Ephesians 1:7
In our original design, God created us to bear His image and reflect His glory in everything we do. Unfortunately, because of our sin, that purpose was lost for a time. But the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ is that through His blood, our purpose is restored and redeemed. If we choose to accept His free gift of salvation, we once again have a perfect purpose for living: Him! There are so many things in the world around us that promise to fulfill us, but when we try to put all our hope and energy into pursuing them, they fail us. This is because only God is powerful and good enough to be the center of our lives. Today campers were able to hear the truth that God has redeemed and restored them to bear His image to a world that is in desperate need of seeing it. What an incredible honor it is to bear the image of the God of the universe!
After this time in the word and a day full of activities, campers put on their overalls and boots and participated in a Hoedown Showdown. Cabin competed against cabin in a series of relay activities and ended with “Run of the Bulls.” This is basically a giant game of tag/zorb ball/crazy fun between campers and counselors. The fun continued for the four oldest cabins with a sunset trail ride and two-step dancing lessons. You could say our campers were able to cut footloose tonight!
Please pray with us.
- Pray campers would hear and believe that their identity is in Christ alone.
- Pray campers would be open to hearing the gospel and see the life and joy only found in the Lord.
- Pray for campers to desire to bear God’s image and be lights to the world wherever they go.
