Good afternoon parents! Your campers are leaving lunch and headed to their Bible study! We’d like to share with you a summary of what they’ll be learning today as they dive into the book of Philippians and learning about their JOY in Christ.
Yesterday, the campers took a look at Acts to see how the Church at Philippi was formed. Today, we learn that Jesus is our life.
Paul begins by thanking God for the Church at Philippi, knowing that they will be with him for eternity because of God’s grace. Paul tells them that he has been put in prison, but it has served to advance the gospel, making it known that his imprisonment if for Christ. So, he REJOICES, because Christ will be honored through his life or death.
He goes on to say that we should live a life that calls attention to the worth of the gospel, believing in Christ and suffering for his sake.
In Philippians 1:21, Paul writes,
For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Our lives are to be lived for Jesus and His ultimate glory. We do this through how we love others in and outside of the church, in good times or bad times, and ultimately for the proclamation of the gospel. Our life is to proclaim Jesus and that brings true JOY.
Before we move on, we’re asking the campers how motivated they are to actually share the joy about Jesus with others.
Parents, please pray with us for your campers to experience the JOY of living a life that proclaims Christ.
Have a great day!
