The story of Nathanael and his interaction with Jesus warns us about the danger of misconception. Misconceptions are decisions based on false information. Nathanael had a misconception of Jesus which almost inhibited him from trusting the Savior of the world! Jesus was from Nazareth, and Nathanael did not believe anything good could come from Nazareth. However, like all misconceptions, Nathanael learned that he was wrong and Jesus was in fact good and worth following. Our misconceptions of God can lead us to believe that He is not powerful, loving, good, or worthy of praise. However, when reminded of the truth of God’s love, we can rest in the fact that He truly cares for us and is more valuable than anything in this world.
