Overview:

This week your campers get to walk through the book of Colossians with their counselors! One of the big themes in Colossians is that in Christ we have everything we need. We get to share, straight from God’s Word, that when we believe in Christ we receive a new identity! An identity in which we are made alive and made complete in Christ!  We know that diving into God’s Word produces big changes in the hearts of anyone who reads it. We challenge you to follow along and check out Colossians as well! Our hope is that by following along you will be able to continue the conversation of what your campers learned when they get home!

Monday’s Theme:

Fullness of God in Christ

Verse of the Day:

“For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell.”
Colossians 1:19

Scripture:

Colossians 1:1-23

Takeaways:

Jesus was filled with the fullness of God, revealing that He contained the total essence of God’s nature and authority. Our savior was God on earth, in human form, living a perfect human life to relate to us, and to die for us, redeeming us back to the Father.

In Colossians 1:17, Paul states, “in him all things hold together.” Even during times of uncertainty, we can trust that Jesus is on our team and he has already won! So we should rejoice and be thankful that we are free in Christ!

In verse 20, we learn that Jesus made perfect peace by dying on the cross. Jesus’s work of redemption joins together sinful people and a holy God! Peace is a state of harmony, which does not always come at a cheap cost. We can live abundantly by boasting in the hope of the glory in God, through whom we have been brought to fullness in Christ.

Questions:

  1. What are some things in your life right now that do not feel held together?
  2. How can we put Christ first in our lives?
  3. What does it look like to fight for peace in times of uncertainty?
