On Wednesday mornings, we have Guy/Girl Day here at the Timbers! Guy/Girl day is when we split off between guys and girls, allowing our staff to pour into our campers on specific topics.
For Guy day, we spent our morning playing tug of war, warball, and breaking down what it means to be gentle and use our minds to glorify God. One big question asked was, “What does it mean to be a man?” Our campers learned that being a man is not about strength on our own, but strength in Christ. Strength is not doing everything on our own but knowing that we need help.
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
The guys here at Timbers learned that we need each other and full reliance on Christ in everything we do. As a result we need to encourage and love one another just as Christ did for us.
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
For Girl day, we spent our morning dancing to Taylor Swift, dressing up, and learning what it means to be a woman of God. One big question we asked at girl day was, “Are you drinking out of a broken well?” If you are drinking out of a broken well or trying to be sustained by other things, you are going to be thirsty. However, drinking the water that Jesus provides will give us life. Comparing ourselves and trying to find our worth in popularity does not sustain, but hope in the Lord will last forever.
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!
We love getting to see these campers continue to learn what it means to be a man or woman of God and grow closer to their Creator! We can’t wait for the rest of this week!
