WOW! With activity classes, Bible studies, Bounce, and Christmas (Eve) in July, we sure had a great day!
Outback transformed overnight and turned into a winter wonderland (or at least as much as it could!) in celebration of Christmas Eve in July! We were even visited by Santa Claus today for lunch! We can’t wait to celebrate the big day with y’all tomorrow at Closing Celebration! This is a cool time for us to remember the birth of Christ in season and out of season.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Then tonight, we engaged in a bit of friendly competition with our last theme night, OSPN: Under The Lights. Campers dressed in athletic wear and put on their game faces to compete in various tournaments around camp. Then, everyone cheered on the oldest guy and girl cabins as they faced off against our leadership in ultimate frisbee and flag football. After hitting the showers and getting all dressed up for the awards ceremony, we gathered back together at the Boomerang to celebrate with the champions and have dessert!
In today’s Bible study we dug deeper into the book of Colossians and talked about letting God’s word dwell in us. We are to continually plant the empowering and affirming message of Christ in our hearts and then allow that message to work according to God’s purposes.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
As we encourage your campers this week to incorporate the word of Christ within them and others each day; we would also like to challenge you to keep your campers accountable when they return home, it will empower and encourage you and your campers for whatever may come.
Tonight, under the light of the moon and those brilliant, Texas stars, the campers were released with their cabins for a very special reflection time. Campers are encouraged in this time to take in the beauty of God’s creation and think back over the week and all the lessons they’ve learned whether they are from Bible study, an activity class devotional, or a hang time. Counselors will spend this time praying for campers’ hearts and that their barriers to the wonderful news of the gospel will be broken down.
In these peaceful moments, many campers understand for the first time the Truth that Jesus paid the price for our sins and that it is nothing we do, but what He did, that allows us to have life in Him.
Pray with us:
- Pray that there would be no distractions during reflection time.
- Pray that God will move in the hearts of campers, drawing them to Himself and opening their eyes to see the beauty of His free gift of grace.
- Pray that campers will be bold enough to stand up for and declare their choice to follow Christ, not only tonight but as they go back to their lives outside of camp.
