Happy Wednesday from the Pine Cove Shores! It’s only half way through Week 11, and we have already been jam packed with fun! Opening day was a breeze with some extra help from Overflow Session E campers’ waving hands and big smiles! Once everyone was moved into their cabins and changed into their Mascot Mania jerseys and uniforms, Sunday was in full swing. After burgers along the shoreline, we headed to the gym for some friendly competition. Drift trike races, knock out games, and dance offs got super hype on the first night of camp! Later in the night, we carried the rest of our energy to C-L-U-B with the Shores Worship Team. This summer, we are going through the book of James and learning how James, the half brother of Jesus, teaches us to put feet to our faith, leading us to have the bible study titled, “FAITHWORKS.” We are learning that when genuine faith is mature, it naturally produces Christ-like works. There are 5 chapters in James, and 5 days of camp, giving us a chapter a day to study.
Monday and Tuesday were filled with fun activity classes and wild theme nights. This summer, we have been blessed with some unique, fun, and new equipment like One Wheels, Drift Trikes, and a waterslide Air Track. Monday’s theme night was adventurous as we “shorvived” a camp-like apocalypse! Campers ran from station to station, hoping to complete team building tasks and gain letters to unscramble a mystery word. Congrats to Tiga 1 for coming up with the victory! Tuesday was no less intense as the campers did their best to climb Espionage hill and get to Top Tizzy, without getting spotted by counselors hiding throughout the trees. CAMPERS ALWAYS LOSE! This week, a men’s cabin won! Raja 1 claimed the victory in Espionage, getting the most number of campers to the top of the hill. Tonight, we had the pleasure of hosting Timbers’ campers in club and worshiping with them! Later, we are Glowing Crazy with neon outfits, black lights, and fun dance moves. Campers and Counselors both get to have a blast dancing to Pine Cove Classics like “Wobble” and “Chainsaw!” This year, we added a new song to the camp playlist, along with some creative dance moves! The song is called “Kinfolk” by Shonlock which talks about how the youth of society are the key figures in our culture, and how they are hopefully living for the Lord daily.
That is our prayer and hope for all the campers and staff at Pine Cove. That we might root our lives in Christ, instead of temporary things that are of this world, and live as obedient followers of the Lord. We hope, as campers return home on Saturday, that the life change that has occurred this week, or two weeks, would be evident and compelling. Please join the staff as we continue to pray that the Lord would provide safety and fun at camp, opening up doors for the gospel to be shared!
