As we finish up our week here at the Timbers, one thing that has become evident to our campers and staff is the power and triumph of God over all things. God is so much bigger than we can ever imagine, and His power is indescribable. Because of this, we can celebrate and rejoice in his constant control and steady hand over us throughout our fears and trials.
When the world breaks us down, we try to fight on our own and fall down time and time again. We think we have control and then we easily we submit when temptation comes our way. We become consumed by our weaknesses, whether it is anger, fear, sickness or temptation, and we find that we have no power alone to overcome things of this world alone. The good news however, is that we can’t and aren’t supposed to fight off things on our own. We have a God who is triumphant over all things.
But he said to me “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
Our God is more powerful than any fear or temptation we might have. With just speaking a few words, God created all things and He knows all things. Though things of this world might be more powerful than us, He will always triumph over them.
It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.
Through Jesus’ death on the cross, death has been beaten by love and we have the power to overcome all evil. We have been forever separated from darkness and unified with Christ.
For he was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but in dealing with you we will live with him by the power of God.
2 Corinthians 13:4
We are untouchable when we have the power of the Holy Spirit living in us. Death and fear have already been concord on the cross and are seen as nothing in the eyes of our Savior. Therefore, fear has no hold on us and Satan has no power to overcome us. We have been saved from the darkness and now called to walk in His freedom and light.
