You better watch out, you better go hide, you better run fast, I’m telling you why… Medieval Times is hunting you down.
One of the most prestigious activity classes at our camp is none other than Medieval Times.
Led by it’s fearless leaders: Queen Snapback, Keeper of the Gauntlet Popo and High Knight Greecy. To begin every class, it’s warriors/knights (aka campers) give The Oath of The Pine Covian Knight. It is during this time that each prospective knight pledges their allegiance to the Province of the Ranch, where the Emperor Jiggs presides alongside of King BK and Queen Legends. This is one of the most important aspects of this game, it is taken very seriously, people.
For each prospective knight to become an actual knight, they must be knighted. The Mashoonga (fighting weapon, we’ll get to that later…) is tapped on each shoulder of the warrior and is then prompted to touch the Goblet (aka, fancy and treasured cup of The Pine Covia kingdom). After every warrior has been knighted, the Mashoongas are given out. Now, of course it is not as simple as going and retrieving said weapon freely… absolutely not. Each new knight must fight against the counselors, or should it be “higher ups”, to receive their battle weapon, it is quite the task.
Let the Games begin…
Once their weapons are earned, traditionally the campers would just play a game against the counselors to win, but this summer it has been taken to the next level. Our fearless leaders have established The Medieval Games (basically the Hunger Games, but it’s not exactly the same and because…well, originality is important). There are two teams in this game and each team is fighting for their District. There are no revivals, only survival will help you…will your District betray you?
The Medieval Times is a serious matter here (but also a lot, and we mean A LOT, of fun) at the Ranch and your campers get to be a huge part in it. And just like the warrior campers are fighting for their team, the Lord is constantly and fiercely fighting for us each day,
And Moses said to the people, ‘Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Eygyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.’
