Today is a BIG day.

In fact, I believe today is a day for REVIVAL. I really mean it. And I really believe it.

Why? Because the Bible tells me so!

Your camper is heading to Bible Study shortly – will you take just a minute, be still, and ask for the Holy Spirit to teach them through the Word?

Today’s topic in our UTURN acronym is “R is for Revival.”

I want you to know that it’s my greatest dream here to witness a group of young men and women on this lakefront property we call The Shores to cry out to God in repentance and for the Holy Spirit to set their hearts and minds on fire for Him!

I want to be a man who LOVES repenting and CRAVES revival! I ask God everyday for this here at the Shores.

*The Bottomline: Repentance precedes an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Returning brings revival.

When we take a look at the narrative of Scripture, when a person or group returns to God in repentance, He shows His love and power and brings Life! He revives us!

Our Memory Verse today is 2 Chronicles 7:14 that says “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

The most powerful words that revived me and changed my life forever were: “What if…”

Long story short, a few years ago I was in a state of spiritual numbness. Even in ministry and leadership of the greatest camp in the world, I was in desperate need of a reviving that only Jesus could do.

Through several months of crying out to the Lord, seeking His presence, sitting and meditating on the Word (even when I didn’t want to), God began to revive my heart and soul and mind. He began to ask me questions like:

  • WHAT IF I don’t just want you to do more?
  • WHAT IF I just want you to draw near?
  • WHAT IF you stopped doing everything in your own strength, your own thinking?
  • WHAT IF you just thought and worked with Me each day?
  • WHAT IF I wasn’t disappointed with you and never have been?
  • WHAT IF I’ve always loved you and was wildly happy with you?
  • WHAT IF you simply humbled yourself and we talked with each other throughout your day?
  • WHAT IF your only mission was to seek My presence – and not craft a Christian appearance?
  • WHAT IF you turned from worldly ways and just followed my light and easy ways?
  • WHAT IF I heard you and healed you?

I was led to all of these questions through Scripture – verses that your camper is reading today. Here is a quick list if you’re interested in diving in: (James 4:8, John 15:5, Matthew 11:28-30, Psalm 16:11) And I’ve never been the same.

The word “revival” in Hebrew is the word chayah – and it means “to bring back to life,” to “restore to consciousness,” or to “restore to a previous condition.”

You see, context is key in 2 Chronicles 7:14. God’s people were far off and in need of returning. And He is telling them that if they just turn to Him, change their thinking, live His ways, then He would bring life and power back to them. He wanted to!

And I believe He wants to do that for your camper – and you – today. Today is a BIG day.

Could you imagine a life of daily, hourly, moment by moment turning to Him – and what a life of continuous revival looks like?

Slow yourself down right now. Pray and ask Him for it. He is faithful to do it.
