Yesterday was day five of camp, and man it has flown by quickly! Campers started their day with “Pit and Palace” before heading to flag, and then read and meditated on scripture during FOCUS followed by some yummy breakfast. The morning was filled with activities including climbing the Swing Wall and shooting hoops at Athletics! The afternoon held a satisfying lunch and some good ol’ Bible study.
Campers and counselors continued to discuss on the theme of “Purpose.” Thursday’s memory verse is:
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Campers broke down Romans 8:18-30 verse by verse and talked about how our present sufferings can point us to a God who sustains us and completes us and promises us a future glory in Him. The Spirit helps us in our weakness and even when we don’t know what to pray, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us, helping our will line up with the will of God and conforming us into the image of His Son.
We have tried to find and fulfill our purpose in people and things of the world, but Jesus not only gives us a purpose for living, He is THE purpose and reason we live. Christ alone satisfies, and we are set free from our bondage of sin and shame! In Him we can live out our purpose, which is to worship and glorify God alone.
The Lord has provided us with great community at camp this week, and lasting relationships have already been formed. Lives are being transformed and campers, along with staff, are being molded into who Christ has made them to be.
Please pray with us.
- Pray that God would move in the hearts of campers to reveal the reality of redemption and restoration in Him.
- Pray that barriers would continue to be broken so relationships can grow stronger between your camper, their cabin-mates, and counselor.
- Pray that the truths and promises we have in Christ would consume our thoughts and be reflected in our actions.
