Woohoo! Today has been an awesome day!
We just wrapped up our “Medieval Mates & Maidens” theme night, which is unique from the rest of our nights here at Pine Cove Outback; we split camp down the middle and the guys and the girls get to have separate dinners, separate games, and even separate Club talks!
On the maidens’ side of camp, the sheilas got crafty, painting like princesses, weaving bracelets, and dancing the night away before heading out to the Lake Shalom dock for a very special Club talk. Barbara “Squeels” Thalman spoke to the girls about the kingdom of light versus the kingdom of darkness.
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.
She urged the girls to flee from the sin that resides in their hearts and in their lives before they released a multitude of lanterns into the night sky.
Meanwhile, the mates pledged themselves to their lieges and offered up their weapons against the evil king. After choosing a coat of arms, they charged the Cardboard Castle constructed and defended by the counselors, who were armed with pool noodle swords! The guys emerged victorious and restored honor to the kingdom!
After an acoustic worship set at Fireside, the mates walked through Psalm 32 with Bailey “Squirrels” Burrus, our program director, and learned more about what it means to acknowledge your sin and how to be truly forgiven for them.
As the night closes, we would love it if you would join with us in praying Psalm 119:18 over the campers:
Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.
We are praying that the messages heard this week will lead to lessons learned and that eyes will be opened to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ!
