Good morning from Lake Palestine!

Are you driving to work, making coffee, leaving the gym, resting on vacation (while your camper is at camp?!), or just getting yourself ready for the day?

If you’re anything like me, it’s easy to think about ourselves – because a lot of times we just have to!

Your camper is about to leave our Dining Hall, the Rumakai, to walk back to their cabins and begin their first Bible Study of the week. I’d like to share with YOU a quick snippet of what they are about to read, discuss, and pray through…

In John 13:4-5 we see Jesus laying aside his outer garments, “and taking a towel, he tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”

Why do you think he chose this method?

Talk about what their feet would’ve been like after a long day and why.

Your camper read through Philippians 2:1-11 in their Quiet Time after they woke up this morning. This was, of course, on purpose. There is an amazing parallel in the first few verses of that passage with what we see happening as Jesus washes his disciples feet.

Another helpful verse is 2 Corinthians 5:21 – another explanation of the great exchange:

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Jesus uses his clean robe to wash their dirty feet – and then put that dirty robe on, leaving them with clean feet. The clean became dirty and the dirty became clean!

Today, be reminded that Jesus loves you! He lived perfectly, died sacrificially, rose victoriously, and will return triumphantly – so that YOU can be clean! And also so that you can love and serve others while we’re here on earth!

Will you stop whatever you’re doing right now and spend a minute praying specifically for your camper, their Bible Study time, the counselor, and our day at the Shores?
