Being a Media Content Creator, I spend a lot of my time working behind the camera, whether that be with photography or social media. I must admit, my job can become somewhat repetitive with having a lot of the same programming week to week. In my weakest moments, especially those where I’m relying on my own strength, I can begin to question my real purpose here at camp. Sometimes, I’m not sure why I felt called to take pictures of campers here at Pine Cove. This summer, I’ve constantly prayed that God would continue to give me joy and diligence in working for Him in my role. He is so faithful and this past week, God gave me a tangible example of exactly why He has called me here, why He has called all of us here.

I was just doing my normal routine, taking pictures of hang times during free time. Hang times are a great time when the counselors get to sit one-on-one with their campers and get to know them deeper and dig into God’s Word together. I saw one of our counselors, “Accounts Pikapayable,”sitting and praying with one of her campers. Her entire persona was radiant and so full of light and joy because they were talking with Jesus! So I took a few pictures of the moment. Later that day, I showed Pika the picture, and she fell to her knees, crying and smiling harder than I’d ever seen. She then told me that the pictures I took were during the exact moment that her camper was accepting Christ into her life. Wow! What a sweet, unexpected moment that I was able to capture. It was then I realized that this girl will be able to keep this picture for the rest of her life, an Ebenezer of His work in her life at Pine Cove.

This is the way God works: He is faithful to us always, even in the moments when we are not faithful to Him. Even when we have no idea what God is doing with our life, He knows exactly which step we are going to take next and why. This summer, I’ve learned a lot about following God in each step of my life, on a day to day basis. Last week, I got to see that play out in walking obedience to where He’s called me now and getting to share His love and joy through pictures. I truly believe that’s my purpose of being here this summer as the Timbers Media Content Creator.

‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’
– Jeremiah 29:11

God’s timing is perfect. As humans, we naturally want everything on our own time, regardless of when or if God has it planned for us. But, God tells us that there is a time for everything. God put me here this summer in His own timing. He had Pika and her camper here in His perfect timing. And He led me to that moment of faith in His ordained timing in order to teach me and grow me in ways I didn’t imagine.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
– Galatians 6:9
