Good afternoon parents! Your campers just left our Dining Hall, The Caverns, and are headed to their cabins for their third Bible study of the week! We’d like to share with you a summary of what they’ll be learning as they dive into the book of Philippians. We hope that this study of God’s Word teaches us where and how to find JOY everlasting!
Yesterday, the campers learned that JOY comes from a life that proclaims Christ. Today, we learn that Jesus is our example of this life.
In his letter, Paul continues by describing Christ’s example of humility, a humility that was obedient to the point of death on a cross. Therefore, because God works in us, we should model Christ’s example and do all things without complaining.
In Philippians 2:5, Paul writes,
Have this MIND among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.
Our minds and our example to the world (the way we live) should follow the example of Jesus. In Jesus, we have a unity that derives from selfless, humble service. This example is given to us in Jesus and will shine brightly to all around us. Our mind is to be committed to Jesus, our JOY to be complete in Him.
We’re asking the campers where in life they feel as if they’re running in vain. We can combat this with the Christ-like joy that comes from serving one another without expectation.
Parents, will you pray that your campers commit their minds over to Christ, following in his example.
Have a great day!
