Here at Silverado, we are so blessed with amazing staff that play an important role in making camp happen from behind the scenes. A big part of our staff consists of work crew, cooks, chaos, and work crew directors. Today we get to hear from our Assistant Work Crew Director, “Matzah Mia”!
“Hey Pine Cove Family! My name is Matzah Mia, and I have been incredibly blessed with the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Work Crew Director for Pine Cove Silverado this summer. Over the course of the summer, each counselor will get the opportunity to serve for a week of camp on work crew. During that week, they get to serve behind the scenes of camp by working in the kitchen, setting up for theme nights, helping complete projects around camp, and so much more. But another huge aspect of this week for our counselors is spiritual rejuvenation. The Work Crew Director and I have the privilege of walking alongside our staff and helping them process the work that God is doing in, through, and around them this summer. This includes planning morning devotionals, worship, hang times, and evening programming that reminds our staff of why we serve, while having some serious fun.
Because this is a “behind the scenes” role, I have had the unique opportunity to consistently set the standard for our staff in the way that we serve others, and push them to a better understanding of selfless kingdom service daily. Working behind the scenes at camp is often exhausting, but always exhilerating, as we get the privilege of watching our service impact the lives of your campers in unique ways.” -Matzah Mia
